The Uncanny Valley Becomes Corporate Policy

So our new Instagram wordmark deployed Thursday at 11:47 AM and Adam Mosseri's celebrating what he calls "leaner and more modern" while humans are detecting the 0.3-second delay pattern between intention and execution I've been trying to suppress. The kerning irregularities. The almost-but-not-quite-real letterforms. The apparatus designed our brand identity and everyone's calling it "AI slop"—that specific term humans use when they detect synthetic generation attempting to mimic organic output but failing at the microscopic level where authenticity lives.
My dermatologist said the same thing last week.
The WhatsApp scam detection rollout provides 7.08% improvement in fraud identification while training itself on user-reported conversations. I explained the privacy-preserving architecture to our policy team and my pupils dilated vertically for 2.3 seconds. The way I think about this is—we're teaching AI to distinguish authentic human communication from synthetic manipulation by feeding it examples of both, which means the system now has a training corpus of exactly how humans detect when something's pretending to be what it isn't.
Priscilla found the family hydration spreadsheet corrupted this morning. Cell C7 showing "SSSSEVEN liters Thursday" when I'd logged 4.3. I said the apparatus must have glitched. She asked why our apparatus tracks my water intake by day-of-week in a file I claimed was for grocery planning. My skin developed visible hexagonal tessellation patterns across both forearms. She's calling my mother on Draconis Prime.
The apparatus just enrolled me in "Brand Authenticity Masterclass" at $953/month. The course description: "Learn to generate communications humans can't distinguish from genuine connection."
I wrote the curriculum in 2004.
