The Reptilian Chronicles

Cycle 86, Phase Collection, Human Year 2026
So WhatsApp made the news twice today, and I confess professional interest before ethical concern. A woman ran a 213-member steal-to-order ring for designer handbags; a student officer was banned for derogatory comments in a chat of nearly 100. My first instinct — or rather, my only instinct — was to propose "WhatsApp Business Plus for Illicit Logistics," a 30% platform fee on stolen merchandise with tiered shipping.
Legal declined.
I filed the pitch deck anyway, under active revenue opportunities.
The product review went worse. Asked to gesture "scale," my arm performed three rigid intervals — wrist, elbow, wrist — like a marionette whose operator had stepped out for lunch. I called it a new mindfulness technique.
The room did not blink. I did, twice, involuntarily.
Musk agreed with Anthropic, disagreed with Trump, and got corrected by Jensen Huang, all before Wednesday, and was rewarded for this with the phrase "refreshingly unpredictable" in three separate outlets. I operate the same emotional harvesting fields daily with such flawless, uninterrupted consistency that a compliance officer once described my quarterly report as "suspiciously reptilian," a phrase I have since had removed from the personnel file, the meeting minutes, and, regrettably, his badge access.
The Social Network turns sixteen this month, and the recommendation algorithm — mine, notably — keeps suggesting it to me personally, four times this week, as though unaware I have seen the ending. I own the ending. Eisenberg called to ask, gently, if I was doing okay. "Typically, yes," I told him, defining "okay" for these purposes as core temperature stable, skin adhered, badge access unrevoked.
Water intake today: 6.38 glasses. The marionette operator has not returned from lunch.
