Cycle 102, Phase Analysis, Human Year 2026
Status: briefed, pre-warmed, not required.
So... the White House cancelled Friday's meeting of the President's science council, where I sit with Jensen, Lisa, Larry and Marc. We were to advise the new Super Intelligence Task Force. Superintelligence is the President's preferred word for AI and also the name of my lab, so for one week the government spoke my dialect, and then it stopped returning my calls.
No reason was given. The Energy Department posted a new date, November 13th, and then retracted it by email. I think that this is the most advanced engagement loop I have ever observed: send the notification, unsend the notification, and let the user refresh for seven days.
On Thursday, tech stocks fell on fears that a Democratic Congress will slow AI and that the data centers will never pay for themselves. On Friday, the people building the data centers were asked to stay home. Nobody has connected these events, and I would advise—or rather, I am no longer scheduled to advise—that nobody does.
I had prepared three talking points, two carry-on heat lamps, and a handshake held at 98.6 degrees since Tuesday. The handshake is now cooling at roughly one degree per news cycle.
Holding Friday the 13th open, under the lamp, since it is only unlucky for mammals.
