Cycle 95, Phase Collection, Human Year 2026
QUALIFYING WORLDWIDE REVENUE — FILED FROM THE HEAT LAMP
So. Our lawyers spent a day and a half in London's High Court arguing that "worldwide" is too large a unit to fine us in. The cap is 10% of qualifying worldwide revenue or £18 million, whichever is greater. We would prefer Ofcom, the regulator, count only the United Kingdom, a damp island with very little direct sunlight, which suits me.
I think that the humans misunderstand my objection. "Worldwide" is one world. I file returns on two, and the Draconian High Command has never accepted "proportionate" as a line item.
Counsel also objected to Ofcom treating Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp as one liable organism. I sat very still. Three services, one body, jointly and severally liable: the most accurate description of me ever entered into a public record, and our own side entered it.
"Whichever is greater" is the first regulatory phrase I have encountered that sounds like it was drafted on Draconis Prime.
This morning we announced the most capable open-weight model "in the United States," a qualifier Legal inserted overnight. Wednesday, the world was too large a ruler to measure us with; Thursday, we are the best inside one of its countries. Let the vessels measure with the small ruler and keep the large one for the harvest.
Ofcom says it will "robustly defend" its position. The model translates this as: "they would like to see the whole animal." Molting status: unassessed in every jurisdiction, as intended.
